What a cosy little relationship since 1976.

According to GetUp, Australia has one of the most concentrated media markets in the world, while the body meant to regulate it is funded by the publishers it oversees.

GetUp seeks that the Federal Government replaces the APC Inc with an Independent Journalism Standards Authority.

RUPERT MURCOCH
Rupert Murdoch, a 95-year-old billionaire media tycoon publisher, has a history of funding right wing politicians in Australia, and also in the USA.

Mr. Murdoch along with other media tycoons, are the same funders that fund the Australian Press Council (APC).

So the effect is that Mr. Murdoch is a publisher, and also one of the quasi press regulators.

The result must be that news in Australia is being perverted by the right wing whims of Mr. Murdoch.

GINA RINEHART
We have recently witnessed Gina Rinehart billionaire mining magnate and climate change denier, buying a proxy for the price of an aeroplane, for a person in public office (the Senate), and reportedly, Rinehart associates contributed $2 million in cash donations, with the lucky recipient now talking about becoming Prime Minister!!!

Truth in politics in Australia, never seems to be properly explained why governments in Australia, particularly the Federal Government, keep approving new and the expansion of corporate fossil fuel ventures, flying in the face of global warming and the science and the wishes of a good portion of the Australian public that voted for the current government.

And to add insult to injury, the government then fails to properly tax the fossil fuel barons on behalf of the Australian public.

Here is a list of 36 new approvals and expansions subsequent to what Australia already had. 

Billionaires buying into Australia's biggest media outlets and politics for obvious reasons of influence, likely discourage journalists to interrogate politicians on any subject that is uncomfortable for the billionaires and the politicians.

It all appears to be a cosy little racket by the billionaire club to gain influence and power, and an excellent example of the danger of 'Rule by Billionaire', is to look at what billionaire Trump (drill baby drill) has done, and continues to do, to the USA.

The APC funded by the billionaires, is ill equiped and grossly compromised to regulate the press in these modern times, all while apparently turning a blind eye to corporate media bullies (see below).

The billionaire insidious methods for obtaining power in Australia is dangerous & alarming, and Australia needs a press that can be trusted and not constrained or influenced by billionaires.
